The story about the eight-legged horse Sleipnir
The eight-legged horse we have in our logo is Sleipnir - the gray, strong steed of the god Odin in Norse Mythology. Sleipnir could gallop faster than any horse, even faster than the wind. He could travel along the earth, in the air and over the sea.
Sleipnir's father Svadilfare was a huge black stallion that belonged to a giant. Long ago this giant offered himself to build a fortress of protection around Asgard, the Nordic gods' home. If he managed to build the fort in one season, he wanted the sun, the moon and the goddess Freya as his wife. The gods never thought he would do it and agreed to his demands.
But Svadilfare was strong, and with his help it seemed as if the giant would succeed. The gods became worried and sent the crafty Loki to get the giant to run slower. Loki turned himself into a beautiful gray mare, lured away Svadilfare from his master, and allowed himself to be bred by the stud.
Soon Loki gave birth to the magic foal Sleipnir. The giant failed in his duty and Loki changed himself back to a human. He later gave Sleipnir to the great god Odin.
